12 Days of Christmas - Day 1
π "On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...." π |
You know the song, but I'm adding a little pelvic health flair π this year. I hope you enjoy these posts. You can view them through my Instagram, Facebook as well as here through my newsletter. Enjoy! π π« Take a deep breath... where do you notice your breath goes first? Into your belly? High into your chest? Do your shoulders move up a lot? How does your ribcage move? π« Depending on how you are breathing, your breath and management of internal pressure when breathing can affect your pelvic floor. π« With every breath, the pelvic floor and the diaphragm are designed to work together to create and regulate pressure in the abdomen. π« As you inhale, the diaphragm descends and presses on the abdominal organs. The pelvic floor should follow by dropping to ensure the pressure in the trunk is regulated. On exhale, both the diaphragm and pelvic floor passively recoil coming back up and in. π« Think about expanding your ribcage with your breath like an umbrella moving outward. π« Donβt lead the breath with your belly. π« Keep shoulders quiet. If youβre not sure if your breathing is affecting your pelvic floor, or if you know youβre not managing your internal pressure well (youβre experiencing leaking, bulging, pressure in your vulva, diastasis recti, etc.), please feel free to reach out to me for more information, or to schedule a free Discovery Call. I'm here for you! As always, let me know what you think. I read every email! NOTE: This series is 12 days long, so I will be sending emails for those 12 days - after this series my newsletter will go back to once a month.
