Happy New Year from your Pelvic Floor Bestie!

Happy New Year, lovelies!! 💗
If the new year feels exciting, overwhelming, or somewhere in between—you’re not alone. This is your reminder that your pelvic floor doesn’t need a resolution… it needs understanding, compassion, and the right kind of support. That's why your PELVIC FLOOR BESTIE is here to help you move, breathe, and live in your body with more ease in 2026.

Your pelvic floor has 4 BFFs!

Your pelvic floor doesn’t work alone. It relies on a team of muscles to help it support you through daily life, movement, exercise, pregnancy, and postpartum recovery. Think of these muscles as your pelvic floor’s closest BFFs:

Diaphragm: your diaphragm is your primary breathing muscle - and key player in pelvic floor function. When you inhale, your diaphragm expands and moves downward. Your pelvic floor responds by lengthening. When you exhale, both gently rise and engage.

Pelvic Floor Bestie tip: if your breathing is shallow or held, your pelvic floor often works harder than it needs to.

Abs: Your deep abdominal muscles work alongside your pelvic floor to create stability and support. When your abs engage appropriately, they help distribute pressure so your pelvic floor isn't taking all the load.

Pelvic Floor Bestie tip: strong abs aren't about how many crunches you can do - it's about coordination, timing and support!

Glutes: Your glutes are powerhouse muscles that support your pelvis, hips, and posture. When they are doing their job, your pelvic floor gets backup during movement - walking, lifting, running, and squatting!

Pelvic Floor Bestie tip: weak or underactive glutes can lead to compensation in the pelvic floor, especially during movement (think pelvic pain, leaking, weakness, etc.)

Adductors: Your inner thighs help stabilize the pelvis and create connection through the core and pelvic floor. They play an important role in balance, alignment, and controlled movement.

Pelvic Floor Bestie tip: inner thighs provide quiet, steady support - especially during single-leg or dynamic activities!
